Historically and present Ullrigg is the front runner within applied research, testing, and verification for the industry of Energy.
The Ullrigg Drilling and Well Centre includes a full-scale offshore type drilling rig, with access to seven wells. The drilling rig, Ullrigg, was built in 1984 and is continuously being modified to support research programs, technology development and testing requirements.
Ullrigg, a world class research infrastructure, is a vital partner in research projects both nationally and internationally. Second to research Ullrigg is vital in supporting the industry's need for testing and verification of new technology.
The activities on Ullrigg provides improvements and new capabilities for oil & gas that will be directly applicable for drilling operations for deep geothermal energy recovery and, - in the future - also for drilling related to CO2 handling/storage.
